THE NEED TO REACH OUT

& SHARE KNOWLEDGE

The complementary relationship between Research and Extension can never be unfastened. Just as the former is envisioning answers to queries or turning innovative and inventive ideas into reality – the latter, on the other hand, is flexing muscles and stirring up the energy to make life-changing moves by way of well-planned activities targeted to satisfy the needs of an identified group.

With these intertwined roles, there is the tendency for the build-up of data that may sooner or later become difficult to manage – if t remains unsorted, and un-shared.

The dissemination scheme of the Research and Extension Department of the Kalinga-Apayao State College takes advantage of a variety of media, particularly the traditional ones: broadcast (radio), print (newspaper, magazine), outdoor media (poster, billboard), support communication materials (leaflets, brochures, flyers, comics).

With the recognized power of the internet, the publication and broadcast of research results and the best practices garnered from the field of extension becomes more easily sorted and shared – in real time, with the intent of sharing beneficial information, while also responding to the need for review, and check-and-balance of data, especially so that they simply keep moving about within academic circles and research databases.

This site – REACH – therefore takes that role.

Detached from the official website of the school, REACH is under the management of the undersigned, Marciano A. Paroy Jr., the site’s creator, using available free online mechanisms – seeing it likewise as part of my functions as Regional Applied Communications Program (RACP) Representative to the Highland Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (HARRDEC).

This site received approval from Research Director Jovita E. Saguibo, who also gave the first seeds of inspiration by asking for a site  devoted solely to the Research and Extension mandates of the school.

This is it.
